National Seminar on Advanced Blasting Technology Concludes with Technical Deliberations and Future Roadmap
The day began with an in-depth discussion on the draft guidelines prepared by DGMS for the use of E-Exploders and Electronic Detonators. Experts deliberated on safety protocols, technical requirements and the future applicability of these technologies in mining operations across the country.
Three technical sessions were held subsequently, where mining experts, scientists and industry representatives from various organisations presented research papers and case studies. Speakers shared insights on safe blasting practices, vibration control, modern explosive technologies, electronic detonators and advanced risk-reduction measures.
The seminar concluded with a valedictory and open discussion session addressed by senior dignitaries including Mr. Ujjwal Taah, Director General, DGMS; Mr. Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD, CCL; Dr. S. S. Prasad, DDG SEZ; Professor Jayantu, NIT Rourkela; and Professor R. M. Bhattacharya, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Representatives from several companies shared their experiences, queries and suggestions during the interactive session.
Chief guest Mr. Ujjwal Taah emphasised the importance of “monitoring in blast” to ensure safety as well as improve production efficiency. He highlighted the increasing participation of women in the mining sector and appreciated the initiatives taken by CCL and the wider coal industry to promote women’s involvement. He also noted that continuous technological advancement is essential as the mining sector steadily adopts modern methods and innovations.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Nilendu Kumar Singh said that the presence of experts from across India was a matter of pride. He stressed the crucial role of minerals in national development and the need for intelligence, strength and discipline in strengthening the mining sector. He reiterated Coal India’s commitment to supporting the nation’s mineral ecosystem.
All presenters were felicitated with mementos by the chairpersons and co-chairpersons. DGMS, CCL and partner institutions played key roles in the successful organisation of the seminar. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Shankar Nagachari, Director (Planning and Project).
