The Chief Minister said that Bihar is progressing rapidly with full support from the Central Government. Targeting former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, he said that during their 15-year tenure, there was no sign of development in the state. “We have worked for the people of Bihar, while they only worked for their family,” he remarked.
Nitish Kumar outlined his government’s accomplishments, stating that significant improvements have been made in the sectors of roads, education, electricity, and healthcare. He said the government has opened numerous schools, colleges, engineering and medical colleges, polytechnic and GNM institutes, and paramedical colleges across the state. Boundary walls for graveyards and temples have been built, the Eastern Kosi Canal restored, and several important roads including those under the Border Road and Four-Lane projects constructed.
He further stated that while the government had initially promised 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities, it has already provided jobs to over 10 lakh people and employment to more than 40 lakh youths. The target is to provide jobs and employment to one crore youths in the next five years.
The Chief Minister also spoke about women’s empowerment, the support given to Jeevika Didis (self-help groups), and the government’s achievement of providing electricity to every household by 2018. He added that the state is now offering 125 units of electricity free of cost.
The rally was attended by JD(U) working president and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha, BJP state president Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, MP Pradeep Singh, and several local leaders. NDA candidates including Achmit Rishidev (Raniganj-SC), Shagufta Azeem (Araria), Manjar Alam (Jokihat), district president Ashish Patel, and Sanchita Mandal were also present along with a large number of NDA supporters.
