If the pension amendment is repealed, 3.3 million pensioners will be deprived of the benefits of the 8th Pay Commission: Khan


Jharkhand/Ranchi: M.Z. Khan, convener of the Forum of Civil Pensioners Associations Jharkhand, stated that the amendment to the Pension Act has caused significant inconvenience to pensioners, making it extremely important to repeal the amendment. With the amendment coming into effect, over 3.3 million civil pensioners across the country will be deprived of the benefits of the 8th Pay Commission.

Khan was speaking at a press conference at the BSNL Union office in Ranchi on Sunday. He said that the agitation on this issue has been ongoing since July. The first phase involved a human chain at Shaheed Chowk on July 24th, followed by a state-level convention on August 25th. A memorandum was subsequently submitted to the Governor on September 2nd and to MP Sanjay Seth on September 13th. The fourth phase involved a press conference on Sunday, while the final phase will be a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10th. Representatives from Jharkhand will participate in this protest.

Present at the press conference were Sadhan Kumar Singha, Vijay Paswan, Vinod Kumar, Shivsevak Pathak, Triloki Nath Sahu, Devcharan Sahu, Noor Mohammad, Sajan Kumar Ram and Bachanu Sahu along with other pensioners.
