Deputy Commissioner attended the dialogue session program of child journalists

 

Ranchi: 10 child reporters from various government schools of Ranchi district attended a dialogue session program organized by UNICEF Jharkhand and Nav Bharat Jagrukta Kendra (NBJK) under the ongoing child journalist program in the conference room of Collectorate Block-A with Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Ranchi Manjunath Bhajantri. Child journalists asked many questions which were answered by Deputy Commissioner Ranchi.

Child Journalist: What is the challenge from being a student to becoming an IAS officer?

Deputy Commissioner: Regarding becoming an IAS officer, overcoming the challenges of life and reaching your full potential, he said that it is not necessary to go out to become an IAS, you can stay at home and get study material from other places, a lot can be found online as well. It is very important to have confidence for studies, keep a strong determination. Study according to your needs, how much you are able to remember, general knowledge, history, information about the country, geographical information, self study is very important. This can be overcome with self-confidence and strong will.

Child Journalist: How can self-confidence be increased?

Deputy Commissioner: Manjunath Bhajantri said that never underestimate yourself, never think that you do not know English, your background is rural, there are many challenges in life, which have to be faced boldly, never be afraid of these challenges. You people have to pay attention to how we become good citizens. When you grow up and achieve something, your parents will feel very proud.

Child Journalist: How does the welfare scheme reach the last person?

Deputy Commissioner: The district administration works in coordination with the people and everyone works in one direction so that the welfare schemes of the state government are brought to the ground. The expectations of the common people are very high, better efforts are made by the district administration to fulfill their expectations. The priority for the state is to take everyone along so that the welfare scheme can reach the last person. Everyone should participate in development.

Child journalists: What are the functions of the district administration?

Deputy Commissioner: Manjunath Bhajantri told that the Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate has many important functions, which include law and order in the district, how work is being done in government offices, how the welfare schemes of the state government reach the people. He also told that the district administration plays an important role in maintaining peace and order in the district. Many challenges come, which are overcome by the district administration with mutual participation. District Education Superintendent Ranchi Badal Raj also gave many important and informative information to the students.

Child journalists: Asked questions on re-enrollment of dropout students, challenging gender discrimination, lack of school boundary walls, damaged roofs and unsafe or absent access roads.

Deputy Commissioner: Manjunath Bhajantri directed the concerned officials to work on this.

Child Journalist: What administrative steps have been taken to remove liquor vendors near the school premises.

Deputy Commissioner: There has been a significant amendment in the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana. It has a provision to provide financial assistance for the education of girls.

Child Journalist: How and how many friends should one make?

Deputy Commissioner: Make friends in life who inspire you to move ahead in life. Who give you good advice to make your future better. Stay away from friends who consume drugs, who stay in bad company, who walk on the wrong path. Choose friends wisely so that a good friend can guide you well. Pay attention to having fewer friends but good friends.

Child Journalist: What message would you like to give on junk food and mobile use?

Deputy Commissioner: Everyone should take care of their general knowledge and most importantly their health. For this, nutritious food is required, stay away from junk food. If possible, stay away from mobile. Use mobile only when necessary. Use it for studies and general knowledge. Do not get addicted to mobile.

On the occasion, students presented attractive greeting cards and pictures to the Deputy Commissioner. The students (child journalists) were taken on a visit to the Collectorate on the directions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Ranchi, Manjunath Bhajantri, where they were briefed by District Social Welfare Officer Ranchi, Surabhi Singh and District Education Superintendent Ranchi, Badal Raj on how various government departments work and how the administration works to ensure service delivery and governance for citizens including children. This interactive platform not only gave children an opportunity to be heard at the highest district level in Ranchi but also helped bridge the gap between the voice of governance and young changemakers.

        The event was attended by District Education Superintendent Ranchi, Badal Raj, Aastha Alang – Communication Specialist, UNICEF, Preeti Shrivastava – Child Protection Specialist UNICEF, Rajesh Jha  Communication Consultant, UNICEF, Debanjali Mandal – Knowledge Management Consultant, UNICEF and representatives from Nav Bharat Jagrukta Kendra.
