BJP protests surround Chief Minister's residence, demands CBI investigation into students' demands
BJP leaders protest against alleged irregularities in recruitment exams and lathicharge on students
Ranchi, August 10: The BJP on Monday surrounded the Chief Minister's residence to protest alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment exams and student demands. Led by State President Aditya Sahu, BJP MLAs, office bearers, and workers, including Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, marched towards the Chief Minister's residence. After being stopped by police, the BJP leaders sat on a sit-in outside the Chief Minister's residence.
BJP leaders demanded a CBI investigation into various recruitment exams in the state, action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities, and justice for students. Party leaders also demanded a dialogue with the Chief Minister on students' issues.
Students have been protesting for 17 days
According to BJP leaders, students from the state have been staging a sit-in and hunger strike at Ranchi's Jaipal Singh Stadium for the past 17 days. The BJP alleges that despite several rounds of talks with the government, no concrete decision has been taken on the students' demands. Following this, the students decided to surround the Assembly.
BJP State President Aditya Sahu stated that the party was on its way to hold talks with the Chief Minister regarding the students' demands, but the police stopped BJP leaders outside the Chief Minister's residence. In protest, the leaders staged a sit-in protest. Later, the BJP leaders were detained and taken to Khelgaon.
BJP Protests Lathi Charge on Students
Aditya Sahu criticized the state government for the police action against students. He alleged that students who were peacefully raising their demands were lathi-charged, which is a serious issue for a democratic system. He stated that the BJP would continue its protest in support of the students' demands.
He cited alleged paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment exams, reiterating his demand for an investigation into various examinations, including the JPSC, JSSC, CGL, and the Excise Constable recruitment. The BJP stated that the culprits should be identified and strict action should be taken against them.
Babulal Marandi said, "The struggle will continue from the streets to the House."
Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi said that students have been protesting for a long time demanding a CBI investigation. According to him, the government should seriously consider the students' problems.
He said that a court-monitored CBI investigation should be conducted into the alleged irregularities in the JPSC, JSSC-CGL, excise constables, and secondary teacher recruitment processes. The BJP leader said that the party will continue its struggle from the streets to the House until the students receive justice.
Marandi criticized the government for the lathicharge on students, calling it a brutal action and said that instead of suppressing the demands of the youth, the government should engage in dialogue with them.
BJP leaders accused the government of repression
BJP State General Secretary Amar Kumar Bauri said that the youth and students of the state are on the streets demanding their demands. He also questioned the detention and prevention of BJP leaders from meeting the Chief Minister.
Assembly Chief Whip Naveen Jaiswal said that BJP leaders wanted to discuss student issues with the Chief Minister, but were stopped outside the Chief Minister's residence. Following this, the BJP leaders staged a sit-in protest there.
Slogans Raised During the Protest
During the march towards the Chief Minister's residence, BJP workers raised slogans demanding an investigation into the recruitment exams, justice for students, and the Chief Minister's resignation. The protesters carried banners and placards.

State President Aditya Sahu, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, former State President Deepak Prakash, Amar Kumar Bauri, Naveen Jaiswal, CP Singh, Rakesh Prasad, Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Geeta Koda, and a large number of BJP MLAs, office bearers, and workers participated in the protest. Various organizational officials and party workers from Ranchi were also present.
