The 'Barterwater' model will give a new dimension to water conservation

Ranchi, August 10: As a special initiative at the Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2026, the 'Barterwater' model, which places water and nature at the center of development, has been presented. Run in partnership with the WHEELS Global Foundation, the WIN Foundation, and the WaterBANK Foundation, this initiative aims to integrate clean drinking water, water conservation, environmental protection, and community participation.

Under the model, 'Rainbow Credits' are awarded for activities such as water conservation, graywater management, and waste segregation, which can be used for clean water and nature-based products.

This experiment, which began in Ara, Bihar, is now expanding to Jharkhand and Assam. It combines water purification technology from IIT Kharagpur with modern technologies such as AIoT and Digital Twin.

Barterwater aims to create a model of sustainable development based on water, nature, and technology by linking water conservation with community participation and the local economy.
