DLSA Takes Legal Awareness Campaign to Villages, Highlights PESA Act-2025 and Welfare Schemes
Legal Awareness Program Held at Kutiyatu Panchayat Bhawan; Information Shared on National Lok Adalat and Government Welfare Initiatives
Ranchi, June 1: As part of its 90-day legal awareness campaign, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, organized a legal awareness program at Kutiyatu Panchayat Bhawan in Namkum Block on Monday. The initiative aimed to educate rural residents about their legal rights, the provisions of the PESA Act-2025, and various welfare schemes being implemented by the Central and State Governments.
The program was conducted under the directions of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of JHALSA, with guidance from JHALSA Member Secretary Kumari Ranjana Asthana and Ranchi Judicial Commissioner Anil Kumar Mishra-I. DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan was present during the event.
Among those attending the program were LADC Chief Praveen Kumar Srivastava, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) Lata Kumari, Deependra Kumar, Yudhishthir Mahto, Jasinta Toppo, Seema Kumari, Tara Minz, Amit Baraik, law students, and local residents.
Addressing the gathering, LADC Chief Praveen Kumar Srivastava focused on the importance of the PESA Act-2025 and emphasized the need to make tribal and rural communities aware of their constitutional and legal rights. He also informed participants about the free legal aid services provided by DLSA and various schemes being implemented by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). He highlighted the toll-free legal assistance helpline 15100 and discussed initiatives such as Yojana Saathi, DAWN, Asha, and Jagruti.
During the awareness session, Para Legal Volunteers educated villagers on several welfare and legal assistance schemes. Lata Kumari explained the benefits of Widow Pension, Old Age Pension, and the Maiya Samman Yojana. Deependra Kumar and Yudhishthir Mahto spoke about victim compensation schemes, while Jasinta Toppo and Seema Kumari informed residents about the role of Lok Adalat and mediation in resolving disputes amicably. Tara Minz and Amit Baraik provided information on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Abua Awas Yojana.
The awareness drive also covered important social issues such as child marriage, child labour, social security pensions, and other government welfare programs. In addition, PLVs conducted a door-to-door outreach campaign to spread awareness among villagers and encourage them to avail themselves of legal services and government benefits.
Participants were also informed about the National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on September 12, 2026. Pamphlets and leaflets containing information on legal services and welfare schemes were distributed among the villagers at the conclusion of the program.
The event witnessed active participation from local residents, who appreciated the efforts of DLSA in bringing legal awareness and information about welfare schemes directly to rural communities.
