Complete Voter Mapping by June 15; Action Will Be Taken Against Negligence: Chief Electoral Officer
Ranchi, June 2: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed all District Election Officers across the state to ensure that the task of mapping the voter list is completed by June 15, without fail. He stated that ensuring the inclusion of eligible Indian citizens' names in the voter list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a top priority, and no eligible voter should be left out of the list.
During an online review meeting conducted from the Nirvachan Sadan (Election House), the Chief Electoral Officer reviewed the progress of the voter list mapping exercise currently underway across the state. He clarified that the names of voters who have not yet been mapped will not be removed from the draft voter list. Notices will be issued to such voters by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), following which they will be required to submit the prescribed documents. The final voter list is scheduled to be published on October 7, 2026, following the disposal of all claims and objections.
During the meeting, K. Ravi Kumar stated that voters whose mapping contains errors will also be required to undergo the entire SIR process, similar to unmapped voters. Such cases will be flagged as "Anomaly Cases," and a decision regarding them will be taken by the ERO after conducting a hearing.
He directed officials to establish personal contact with unmapped voters and to ensure the identification of voters listed as absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate entries, or non-citizens. He emphasized that the SIR process is exclusively for eligible Indian citizens, and no non-Indian citizen will be permitted to be included in it.
During the review, the Chief Electoral Officer interacted directly online with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who had recorded low mapping figures; while reviewing their work, he issued instructions regarding necessary capacity-building measures. He further directed that no changes be made to the BLOs after June 15, and that all pending cases related to Forms 6, 7, and 8 be resolved by June 15 as well.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Datta, Deputy Electoral Officer Dheeraj Kumar Thakur, and Junior Electoral Officer Sunil Kumar—along with the District Electoral Officers and Deputy Electoral Officers from all districts—participated in the meeting via an online medium.
