Jharkhand Becoming a "Safe Haven" for Illegal Infiltrators Fleeing West Bengal: Pratul Shah Deo

Demand for Immediate Establishment of Detention Centers in Border Districts

Appeal to Implement Central Government's Measures in Jharkhand as Well

Ranchi: BJP State Spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo has alleged that, following potential action against illegal infiltrators in West Bengal, Jharkhand is emerging as their new "safe haven." He has demanded that the state government immediately establish detention centers in the border districts and launch a special drive to identify illegal infiltrators.

Pratul Shah Deo stated that the formation of a high-level committee—headed by former Supreme Court Justice Prakash Prabhakar Naolekar—by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to identify and take action against illegal infiltrators is a significant step towards ensuring national security. He added that the Central Government is serious about the country's internal security and demographic balance.

He alleged that border districts such as Pakur, Jamtara, Dumka, and Sahibganj have long been plagued by the problem of illegal Bangladeshi infiltration. Now, with the growing apprehension of action being taken in West Bengal, a large number of infiltrators may turn towards Jharkhand.

Pratul Shah Deo remarked that, given that most neighboring border states are governed by the BJP and maintain strict vigilance, Jharkhand is increasingly becoming a "safe zone" for illegal infiltrators. Accusing the state government of engaging in "appeasement politics," he asserted that this is precisely why infiltrators expect to receive political patronage here.

He claimed that a comparison of census data from 1951 and 2011 reveals a decline in the tribal population and a corresponding rise in the Muslim population within the Santhal Pargana region. He termed this a grave social and cultural challenge.

The BJP spokesperson demanded that Chief Minister Hemant Soren issue clear directives to all District Magistrates to conduct a comprehensive verification drive. He noted that, under the Indian Foreigners Act, the responsibility for identifying and verifying suspected foreign nationals lies with the district administration. Pratul Shah Deo stated that this is not merely a matter of law and order, but a serious issue concerning Jharkhand's social fabric, local resources, employment, and national security. He added that the BJP would continue to relentlessly struggle on this issue, serving as the voice of the people.
