DLSA Directives: FAR Within 48 Hours, Complete Report Within 90 Days Mandatory in Road Accident Cases
Ranchi: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, organized a one-day workshop concerning motor vehicle accidents and insurance claims within the Civil Court premises. The program was conducted under the guidance of the Judicial Commissioner-cum-Chairperson and was attended by judicial officers, police officials, advocates, and other relevant stakeholders.
During the workshop, Judicial Commissioner Anil Kumar Mishra-I stated that road accidents do not occur according to a schedule; therefore, it is imperative for everyone to remain vigilant. He emphasized that ensuring timely compensation for victimized families must be a priority, as they often face significant hardships due to a lack of resources.
P.O., MACT (Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal), Nishant Kumar clarified that in road accident cases, it is mandatory for the police to submit the First Accident Report (FAR) to the Tribunal within 48 hours, while a detailed accident report must be submitted within 90 days. He noted that strict adherence to these prescribed timelines would facilitate the expeditious disposal of cases.
During the proceedings, police officials, advocates, and experts engaged in detailed discussions regarding the procedural, investigative, and judicial aspects of MACT cases. In his concluding remarks, DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan extended a vote of thanks to all participants, stating that the primary objective of this workshop was to sensitize all stakeholders involved in motor vehicle accident cases, thereby ensuring that victims receive timely justice and compensation. He further added that ensuring compliance with the established procedures and timelines would enable the swift resolution of cases and spare victimized families from unnecessary delays.
