Main accused in BIT Mesra firing incident arrested, weapons and bike recovered
Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the aerial firing incident that occurred near the Toyota showroom in BIT Mesra, Ranchi, on February 4, 2026. Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in Sundar Vihar, Kokar, and Aman Kumar Thakur, alias Chhotu, a member of the Rahul Singh gang, was apprehended. Four other accused were also arrested based on his information. Police recovered a pistol, two live bullets, a black-painted Apache bike, six mobile phones, and the clothes and helmets used in the incident. A case has been registered against all the accused under various sections, including the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
