Ranchi: CCL has issued a press release stating that in some reputed newspapers of Jharkhand, news related to disappearance and tampering of forest land documents related to Chandragupta project in Keredari region of Hazaribagh district, allotment of 417 acres to CCL without checking the nature of the land and scam of billions of rupees at the rate of 25 lakhs per acre have been published in the past few days. It is noteworthy that for Chandragupta project, a total of 1495 hectares of land has been acquired by the Ministry of Coal, Government of India under CBA (A & D) Act, 1957 and it is vested in CCL. Out of this 1495 hectares of land, diversion of 699.38 hectares of forest land has been approved by the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of India in the light of the recommendation after investigation from the competent authority of the state government. 417 acres of land, 699.38 hectares is not under the depleted forest land.
In the light of letter no. 4715 dated 27/11/2018 of Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Jharkhand, the desired commitment has been given in Form-I by letter no. 2350 dated 25/06/2022 of Deputy Commissioner, Hazaribagh and in Form-II by Chief Manager, Chandragupta Project. In Form-I, the mauza, police station, plot no. and area related to the land are mentioned. In Form-II, letter no. 2350 dated 25/06/2022 of Deputy Commissioner, Hazaribagh has been mentioned. For easy reference, this information is available on the Parivesh Portal of Forest, Environment and Climate Change.
The news of land compensation of Rs 25 lakh per acre and scam of billions of rupees published in some newspapers is 100 percent wrong. In lieu of the above mentioned 417 acres of land, CCL has not paid any compensation to any raiyat or the state government till now. Till the verification of the land in question is not done, no one has been given its benefit nor can it be given to anyone.
