Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court will deliver an important verdict today on the state government's decision to cancel the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination and the appointments made through it. Justice Deepak Roshan's court had reserved its judgment last month after hearing detailed arguments from both sides. Millions of young aspirants and thousands of selected candidates across the state are eagerly awaiting the verdict.
The state government had issued an official notification cancelling the CGL examination process and the appointments of successful candidates, citing the CID investigation report and student protests. Challenging this decision, successful candidate Akash Gaurav and others filed petitions before the High Court, seeking to quash the government's decision. The petitioners argued that it was unjustified to cancel the entire examination and selection process on the basis of alleged irregularities. During the investigation, the government had identified around 465 suspected candidates and issued notices to them.
The petitioners' lawyers argued before the court that if some candidates had secured success through unfair means, strict action should be taken against them. However, candidates who cleared the examination through hard work and merit should not be punished.
