The Durand Cup 2026 kicked off in grand style on Sunday at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Morhabadi, Ranchi. Sports enthusiasts showed great excitement as Ranchi hosted Asia's oldest and most prestigious football tournament for the first time.
During the opening match, District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri and Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan were personally present at the stadium, continuously monitoring security and arrangements. The district administration and the Sports Department had made extensive preparations for the event.
Robust security arrangements were put in place within the stadium complex. Adequate police forces were deployed at entry and exit gates, spectator stands, and across the entire premises.
