Two Criminals Arrested with Illegal Weapons in McCluskieganj; Scorpio Vehicle Seized
Ranchi, April 14: In a major operation conducted within the jurisdiction of the McCluskieganj Police Station, the police have arrested two criminals found in possession of illegal firearms and a vehicle. In this regard, a case has been registered under various sections of the Arms Act, vide McCluskieganj Police Station Case No. 13/26, dated April 14, 2026.
According to the information received, on the night of April 13, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ranchi, received a confidential tip-off stating that certain criminals, armed with weapons, were traveling from Khalari towards McCluskieganj in a black Scorpio vehicle with the intention of committing a crime. Acting swiftly upon this information, the police launched a vehicle inspection drive near Chinatand.
Around 1:00 AM, a suspicious Scorpio vehicle was intercepted and subjected to a search. The two individuals traveling in the vehicle were identified as Rustam Ansari alias Sonu and Md. Zaid Ansari alias Arman Ansari (both residents of Jehlitand, under Khalari Police Station, District Ranchi).
During the search, a loaded 7.65 mm pistol was recovered from Rustam Ansari; its magazine contained two live cartridges. Additionally, two mobile phones and the Scorpio vehicle (Registration No. JH01CB-1323) were seized.
During interrogation, both accused confessed to being involved in the illicit trade of weapons and admitted that they were traveling to a wedding ceremony in Balumath while carrying the arms. Based on the inputs provided by them, police teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend other criminals involved in the network.
The operation involved the participation of Khalari Police Station In-charge Jaideep Toppo, McCluskieganj Police Station In-charge Dhananjay Baitha, Sub-Inspector Degan Kumar, Sub-Inspector Birju Prasad, along with personnel from the armed forces. The police are currently engaged in a thorough investigation of the case.
