Fake Aadhaar Card Scam at Toll Plaza — Locals Defamed, Management Orders Strict Action

Jharkhand/Ranchi (M Bharat 24 News Live): A controversy has erupted at the Bijupara Toll Plaza in Ranchi (NH-39) over the alleged use of fake Aadhaar cards to claim local toll exemptions. According to toll management, the timing for issuing passes is from 8 AM to 4 PM, and the fee for a local pass is ₹340.

Toll Manager Abhishek Sahu informed that vehicles entering the toll gate have their FASTag activated within just 30 seconds, whereas cash transactions take more time. Often, FASTag vehicles mistakenly enter the cash lane, and cash-paying vehicles enter the FASTag lane,

which leads to traffic congestion and long queues. Management sources revealed that some outsiders are using fake Aadhaar cards under the names of Chanho and Mandar regions to claim local resident discounts, tarnishing the reputation of genuine locals. Strict action will be taken once such cases are verified.

To prevent misuse, the management has decided to prioritize the RC (Vehicle Registration Certificate) instead of Aadhaar for identity verification. Leaflets have also been distributed over the past three days to inform commuters about the correct process and required documents.

When questioned by M Bharat 24 News Live correspondent, Toll Manager Abhishek Sahu stated —

“The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) provides a Local Monthly Pass for ₹340 to residents within a 20 km radius of the toll plaza, allowing unlimited crossings for one month.

Additionally, an Annual Pass is available for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans for a one-time fee of ₹3,000, valid for one year or 200 crossings, whichever occurs first. Both passes are linked to the vehicle’s FASTag, ensuring smooth and seamless travel at the toll.”

Sahu further added that toll staff always try to resolve disputes peacefully, but the use of fake documents by outsiders often leads to unnecessary jams and tension at the plaza.

The management has appealed to all commuters to use only valid documents and follow toll regulations so that traffic remains smooth and the image of local residents is not tarnished.
