Ranchi-Anand Vihar Terminal Special Train's service period extended, route and schedule also changed


Ranchi: Keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers and travel convenience, the Ministry of Railways has extended the service period of Train No. 02877/02878 Ranchi-Anand Vihar Terminal-Ranchi Special. The train's route, schedule, and stoppages have also been revised. This information was given in a press release issued by the Ranchi Division of South Eastern Railway.


Train to run from Ranchi to Anand Vihar every Saturday


According to the Railways, Train No. 02877 Ranchi-Anand Vihar Terminal Special will now depart from Ranchi every Saturday from August 8, 2026, to September 26, 2026, making a total of eight trips during this period.


The train will depart from Ranchi on Saturdays at 5:40 p.m. It will then travel via Lohardaga (6:50/6:52 pm), Tori (7:43/7:45 pm), Daltonganj (9:03/9:05 pm), Garhwa Road (10:30/10:35 pm), Sasaram (12:45/12:47 pm), Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction (2:50/3:00 pm), Subedarganj-Prayagraj (6:00/6:05 pm), Govindpuri-Kanpur (8:40/8:45 pm), and Tundla (11:50/11:52 pm) to reach Anand Vihar Terminal at 6:00 pm on Sunday.


Return from Anand Vihar every Sunday


Similarly, Train No. 02878 Anand Vihar Terminal-Ranchi Special will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal every Sunday from August 9, 2026, to September 27, 2026. This train will also operate a total of 8 trips.


The train will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal at 7:30 pm on Sunday. It will then stop at Tundla (11:30/11:32 am), Govindpuri-Kanpur (2:30/2:35 pm), Subedarganj-Prayagraj (5:30/5:35 pm), Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction (9:25/9:35 am), Sasaram (10:50/10:52 am), Garhwa Road (1:20/1:25 pm), Daltonganj (1:50/1:52 pm), Tori (3:50/3:52 pm), and Lohardaga (4:53/4:55 pm) before arriving in Ranchi at 6:35 pm on Monday.


Coach composition will remain unchanged


The Railways has clarified that the coach composition (rack structure) of both special trains will remain unchanged. Passengers will be able to travel in all available classes as before.

This decision by the Railway Ministry will provide significant relief to passengers traveling between Jharkhand and the National Capital Region. Working professionals, students, businesspeople, and other travelers, especially those traveling on weekends, will benefit from the availability of additional seats. Passengers from important stations such as Lohardaga, Tori, Daltonganj, Garhwa Road, Sasaram, Prayagraj, and Kanpur will also benefit directly from this special train.
