New Delhi: On Teachers' Day, the Delhi government organized 'Shikshak Maha Kumbh'-State Teacher Honor Ceremony at Thyagaraj Stadium. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony. He interacted with teachers and children. 118 teachers and 5 educationists were honored in the Teachers Maha Kumbh. The cultural presentations presented by the children in honor of their teachers at the ceremony captivated everyone.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while addressing the ceremony, said that the Guru-Shishya tradition in India has been very ancient and glorious. Teachers are not only the imparters of knowledge but are the main architects of nation building. Remembering former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, he said that teachers are the backbone of the society and their role in building the values of the students is unique.
The Union Minister described the Teachers' Maha Kumbh as a powerful symbol of the upliftment of education in the national capital. He thanked the Delhi Government for the steps taken in the field of education, especially for improving the level of government schools and taking forward the Nipun Bharat Mission.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the work that all the teachers are doing is not just a job, but God's work, a divine work. Teachers are not limited to just career or job, but they are constantly engaged in the great work of nation building. Every child trained by their hands brings glory to the society and the nation.
The Chief Minister further said that teaching in government schools is undoubtedly a challenging task. Often there is a lack of resources and facilities, despite this, teachers are constantly engaged in giving better education and values to the children. He assured that the Delhi Government will make its government schools even better than public schools so that about 70,000 teachers working here can get modern facilities and more than 18 lakh students can get quality education. She said that the aim of our government is to make the standard of Delhi schools so good that parents get their children admitted there after seeing the excellent standard of the schools, not because they get cheap education there. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making the GST rates zero on educational material. She said that the Prime Minister knows what kind of measures are required in the country to raise the level of education.
Rekha Gupta also said that the dream of the Delhi government is that the government schools here should be so good that no parent needs to send their child to a private school. Income or economic condition should never become a hindrance in getting education. She also clarified that it is the responsibility of the government to provide resources and facilities, while it is the responsibility of the teachers to create an environment of education, values and to awaken feelings towards the nation.
The Chief Minister, while referring to the historic law recently made by the Delhi government to control the fees of private schools, called it a big relief step for the parents. He extended warm wishes to all the teachers on Teachers' Day and said that teachers do not only teach lessons, but also shape character and strengthen the foundation of the nation.
On this occasion, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that Teachers' Day reminds us that education is not just a profession but a mission, as shown by Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan through his life. Sood further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that a mother gives birth, but a teacher shapes life. In fact, the biggest credit for the future of children goes to the teacher. The National Education Policy 2020 has given a new definition to our education, multidisciplinary learning, vocational exposure, experimental learning and digital empowerment, making our children future ready for the twenty-first century.
Ashish Sood also said that the changes that have been stopped till now due to past politics in Delhi will be implemented rapidly under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. In the next three years, every school and every child in Delhi will become a part of the Nipun Sankalp Mission. Also, in the coming four years, every classroom from class 9 to 12 will be converted into a smart classroom. The use of artificial intelligence will personalize education, monitor learning outcomes and help in dropout prediction. I have full faith that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, support of the Union Minister and leadership of the Chief Minister, Delhi will play a leading role in education reforms and will stand at the forefront as the developed capital of developed India.
