This screening of the film will be for invitation card holders only. The organization has informed that the film was released across the country on September 5, but it could not be screened in theaters in West Bengal.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and 'Khola Hawa' president Swapan Dasgupta said on Friday, "Khola Hawa will present the first screening of 'The Bengal Files' in Kolkata. We feel proud of this." The film's director Vivek Agnihotri and actress Pallavi Joshi are also likely to be present on this occasion.
Political rhetoric also started after this announcement. Trinamool Congress spokesperson Arup Chakraborty said, "The film has been released across the country but the audience is not going to see it. The director himself is complaining. Recently he even said that Arindam Chatterjee is the brother of Rabindranath Tagore. Later he corrected the mistake and said that he is Arindam Tagore."
At the same time, BJP leader Sajal Ghosh expressed apprehension that the screening of the film may not happen. He said, "The announcement has been made, but it is not certain whether the police will give permission for it or not. The law and order situation in the state is bad. This is the reason why the film could not be screened in theatres earlier. This time too the doubt remains."
