Ranchi, October 7, 2026: Jharkhand Chamber President Tulsi Patel has urged the state government to ensure the early posting of Joint Commissioners in vacant circle offices of the Commercial Taxes Department. He said that until regular appointments are made, Deputy Commissioners should be given the necessary administrative powers to ensure that traders do not face delays in essential tax-related work.
The issue was discussed at a meeting held at the Chamber Bhawan, where the practical difficulties being faced by traders due to vacant posts and pending matters were reviewed. The Chamber said that several circle offices are currently functioning without regular Joint Commissioners following recent transfers and promotions in the department.
According to the Chamber, traders dealing in petroleum products, liquor and other non-GST goods are particularly facing difficulties in obtaining new JVAT and CST registrations, making amendments to existing registrations, adding or removing goods, updating business addresses and warehouse details, and obtaining necessary statutory forms.
Tulsi Patel said that delays in registration, amendments and issuance of statutory forms can affect business activities as well as state revenue. He urged the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure that Joint Commissioners are posted in all vacant circles at the earliest.
He further suggested that until regular postings are made, the Deputy Commissioners serving in the respective circles should be granted the necessary administrative powers so that pending matters can be disposed of smoothly and traders can continue their business activities without unnecessary delays.
Vice President Vikas Vijayvargiya, General Secretary Rohit Agrawal, Joint Secretary Amit Sharma and member Santosh Agrawal were present at the meeting.
