BJP Mahila Morcha President Questions Women’s Safety: “If Women Are Not Safe Even Inside Police Stations, Who Will Guarantee Their Security?”
Ranchi, October 31, 2026: Seema Singh, President of the Jharkhand Pradesh BJP Mahila Morcha, has expressed deep concern and anger over allegations that a police personnel attempted to rape a woman inside Gamharia Police Station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. She said that such an incident is extremely serious and disturbing, particularly when a woman approaches the police station seeking justice and protection. Ensuring women's safety inside police stations is a primary responsibility of the administration.
Seema Singh said that the woman had visited the police station seeking help in connection with a family dispute. Due to fear, she stayed at the police station overnight. During this period, a police personnel allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. Raising questions over women's safety, she asked who would guarantee their security at home, on the streets and in public places if they were not safe even inside police stations. She added that such incidents undermine public confidence in the police and administration.
