Ranchi, September 11: The Ranchi district administration has imposed prohibitory orders around examination centres in the city in view of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II) and National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2026, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi.
Ranchi Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kumar Rajat, exercising powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), has imposed restrictions within a 200-metre radius of the examination centres.
The prohibitory orders will remain effective from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on September 13, 2026.
The administration has apprehended that anti-social elements may gather near examination centres and attempt to disrupt law and order. Although magistrates, police officers and security personnel have been deputed for the smooth and malpractice-free conduct of the examinations, the restrictions have been imposed as a precautionary measure.
Under the order, the following activities have been prohibited within the 200-metre radius of the examination centres:
1. Assembly of five or more persons at one place, except government officials/employees engaged in official duties, government programmes and funeral processions.
2. Use of loudspeakers or any other sound-amplifying equipment.
3. Carrying firearms or explosives, including guns, rifles, revolvers, bombs and ammunition, except by government officials/employees engaged in official duties.
4. Carrying weapons such as sticks, bows and arrows, axes, spears and other traditional weapons, except by government officials/employees engaged in official duties.
5. Organising meetings or public gatherings.
The order has been issued to ensure the peaceful, orderly and malpractice-free conduct of the UPSC examinations and to maintain law and order around all designated examination centres.
The examination centres covered under the order include Central Academy, Bariatu Road; St Aloysius High School, Purulia Road; St Anna Girls High School; Ursuline Inter College; St Anna Intermediate College; Gossner High School; Firayalal Public School; St Paul College; Government Girls +2 High School, Bariatu; Doranda College; Gossner College; DAV Public School, Gandhi Nagar; Nirmala College; JMJ High School; Anita Girls High School; Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Dhurwa; Government +2 High School, Kanke; and Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Sector-1, Dhurwa, including their designated sub-centres.
