Ranchi, September 25, 2026: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, conducted a special legal awareness drive at Mahuajari Panchayat Bhawan and Kanijadi village as part of its 60-day Mega Legal Awareness Campaign, focusing on the prevention of sexual harassment of women at the workplace.
During the campaign, villagers were informed about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act. Through a door-to-door outreach programme, the DLSA team interacted with residents and highlighted women's rights to a safe, respectful and harassment-free workplace.
PLV Suman Thakur explained that preventing sexual harassment at the workplace, ensuring effective redressal of complaints and protecting the dignity and respect of women are key objectives of the law.
PLVs Kalindar Gop and Hariram Karmali also briefed villagers about the NALSA Child-Friendly Legal Services Scheme, 2024. They said that children below 18 years who are in need, victims or in conflict with law are entitled to free legal assistance.
The DLSA team visited households to listen to the problems of villagers. Applications related to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, old-age pension, PM-Kisan, livestock sheds, ration cards, irrigation machines and labour cards were also collected.
Around 250 villagers were sensitised during the campaign and provided information about various legal aid schemes operated by NALSA and JHALSA.
The team also informed villagers about the National Lok Adalat scheduled for December 12 and created awareness about child marriage, child labour, dowry, witch-hunting and the Sponsorship Scheme.
The 60-day Mega Awareness Campaign is being conducted under the directions of Jharkhand High Court Judge-cum-Executive Chairman of JHALSA Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, with the guidance of JHALSA Member Secretary Ranjana Asthana and Ranchi Judicial Commissioner-cum-Chairman, DLSA Anil Kumar Mishra.
