Ranchi, September 25, 2026: Para teachers in East Singhbhum have received major relief from the Jharkhand High Court. The court has quashed the order issued by the District Superintendent of Education (DSE), under which para teachers were removed from service and their honorarium was withheld over questions regarding the validity of their educational certificates.
Justice Deepak Roshan directed that the affected para teachers be paid their pending honorarium from April 2025 onwards.
The case concerned questions over the validity of educational certificates submitted by certain para teachers. The institutions involved included Inter Prayag Mahila Vidyapeeth, Allahabad, Hindi Mahila Vidyapeeth, Allahabad, and Hindi Vidyapeeth, Deoghar.
The Jharkhand Education Project Council had issued a letter on November 7, 2025, directing action against para teachers whose educational qualifications were linked to such certificates. Following this, concerned officials in various districts were instructed to take necessary action.
In East Singhbhum, the DSE subsequently ordered action against the affected para teachers, including removal from service and withholding of their honorarium.
Aggrieved by the decision, Mira Murmu and others approached the Jharkhand High Court, challenging the DSE's order and seeking payment of the withheld honorarium along with arrears.
After hearing the arguments of the parties, the High Court quashed the DSE's order. The court directed that the affected para teachers be paid their outstanding honorarium from April 2025 onwards.
The decision brings significant relief to the affected para teachers of East Singhbhum and clears the way for payment of their long-pending dues.
