Ranchi: JMM General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey hit out at the BJP over the MMDR amendment, saying the issue is not political but a fight to protect Jharkhand’s rights over its mineral resources. He said the BJP’s discomfort over the agitation shows that “the issue has hit the right spot.”
Pandey said that issues related to employment and transparency in recruitment exams are important, but they cannot be linked with the MMDR issue to divert attention from the main concern. He asked the BJP to clarify the Jharkhand unit’s stand on the Centre’s proposed MMDR amendment and whether it supports protecting the state’s mineral revenue and constitutional rights.
He said the JMM will continue to raise its voice democratically for both students’ rights and Jharkhand’s rights over its jal, jungle, zameen and mineral resources.
