Jharkhand Police Sports Extravaganza Begins: ADG Manoj Kaushik Inaugurates South Chotanagpur Police Sports Meet-2026
Ranchi: The much-awaited South Chotanagpur Police Sports Meet-2026 kicked off on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and zeal. Additional Director General (South Chotanagpur Range) Manoj Kaushik inaugurated the event by releasing balloons. In this three-day sports extravaganza, police officers and personnel from Ranchi, Simdega, Gumla, Khunti, and Lohardaga districts will showcase their talents across various sporting competitions.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, ADG Manoj Kaushik stated that police personnel discharge their duties—maintaining law and order, controlling crime, and ensuring public safety—round the clock, 365 days a year. Working under constantly challenging conditions places them under physical and mental strain. In this context, sports serve as an effective medium to relieve stress while fostering discipline, team spirit, leadership qualities, self-confidence, and physical and mental fitness.
He noted that such sports competitions promote coordination, camaraderie, and a spirit of healthy rivalry among police officers and personnel from different districts, thereby strengthening the organization's operational efficiency and unity.
The sports meet, held from July 21 to 23, features a wide range of events, including athletics, football, hockey, cricket, volleyball, handball, basketball, kabaddi, wushu, taekwondo, boxing, cycling, yoga, weightlifting, karate, judo, gymnastics, archery, and wrestling.
On the first day of the competition, events including running races and various other athletic and sports contests took place. Competitions across different disciplines will continue over the next two days. The closing ceremony is scheduled for July 23, where winning athletes and teams will be felicitated. Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan, Superintendent of Police (City) Paras Rana, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Gaurav Goswami, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rakesh Singh, Deputy Superintendents of Police from urban and rural areas, other police officials, and a large number of police personnel were present on this occasion.
