The investigation into Jharkhand's high-profile liquor case has gained momentum. Advancing its probe into the state's excise policy, liquor supply system, JSBCL procedures, and associated alleged financial and administrative irregularities, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued summons to several key officials for questioning.

According to the ACB, statements previously recorded are being cross-verified with available documents and evidence during the investigation. Where necessary, the concerned officials and individuals are being recalled to seek clarifications.

These officials are required to appear before the ACB on August 4:

Gajendra Singh – Then Joint Commissioner, Excise Department

Sudhir Kumar Das – Then General Manager (Finance), JSBCL

Amit Prakash – Then Excise Commissioner

Detailed questioning of these officials will be conducted based on previously recorded statements and available documents.

What aspects are being investigated?

The ACB is conducting a thorough investigation into the terms of the tender process, modifications made to them, the roles of concerned officials and entities, and the procedures followed by participating companies. Additionally, the probe covers aspects such as bank guarantees, payments, revenue collection, liquor supply, shop accounts, cash collection, bank deposits, audits, and potential losses to government revenue.

The investigating agency is also reviewing records of relevant meetings, instructions issued by officials, and their compliance. All documents, financial records, and statements are being cross-verified to substantiate facts with evidence.

Emphasis on impartial and evidence-based investigation

The ACB has clarified that any conclusion regarding an individual's role will be drawn only after a comprehensive examination of available documents, statements, and other evidence. The Bureau aims to ensure an impartial, factual, and credible investigation into every aspect of the entire matter.
