27th Sawan Mahotsav Begins Today in Ranchi: A Grand Celebration of 100 Stalls, Women's Enthusiasm, and Self-Reliance
Ranchi: The 27th Sawan Mahotsav, organized by the Agarwal Sabha Mahila Samiti, Ranchi, will be inaugurated today, July 21, 2026, at Maharaja Agrasen Bhawan. This three-day festival, running from July 21 to 23, will showcase a unique blend of women's entrepreneurship, art, and self-reliance. The festival will be inaugurated at 11:00 AM by Deepika Singh, the Rural Development Minister of the Jharkhand Government.
Held continuously for nearly 26 years, this festival represents a successful initiative to empower women economically and foster self-reliance. This year, over 100 stalls have been set up at the fair. Women from various cities—including Ranchi, Dadar, Kolkata, Banaras, Jaipur, and Delhi—are participating with their unique products.
The festival features more than 40 *Rakhi* stalls, designer home décor, handicrafts, bedsheets, and tablecloths, alongside homemade items such as *Badi* (lentil dumplings), pickles, *Murabba* (fruit preserves), *Sharbat* (cordials), sweets, and muffins.
The objective of the Agarwal Mahila Sabha Samiti is not merely to provide a sales platform for women but also to support and develop their skills in business, management, and marketing. By offering a one-stop shopping experience for occasions like Sawan, Sinjara, and Raksha Bandhan, the festival attracts large crowds every year.
A large turnout of visitors is expected this time as well. Last year, many women entrepreneurs gained new customers, business opportunities, and valuable connections, giving their businesses a new identity.
The festival will remain open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The entry fee is set at ₹10. The organizers have appealed to the city's residents to encourage women entrepreneurs at this grand Sawan Mahotsav and to strengthen the resolve of 'Self-reliant Woman, Strong Society' by purchasing their products.
