Hemant Soren's Discharge Petition Dismissed
Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has suffered a major legal setback in the alleged 8.86-acre land fraud and money laundering case. The special PMLA court has dismissed his discharge petition. The court observed that, based on the documents submitted by the ED and witness statements, a *prima facie* case is made out, and there is sufficient material to proceed with the hearing on the charges.
The court clarified that at this stage, only *prima facie* facts are considered, not a detailed examination of evidence. Following the dismissal of the petition, the process of framing charges will now move forward, and Hemant Soren, along with the other accused, will have to face trial.
