Notorious Criminal Ramdev Oraon, Carrying a ₹5 Lakh Reward, Surrenders
Ranchi, May 30: Ramdev Oraon—leader of the Jhangur Group and a notorious criminal carrying a reward of ₹5 lakh—surrendered before the police along the Ranchi-Gumla border, accompanied by his two associates, Prasad Oraon and Subas Oraon. Influenced by the Jharkhand government's surrender policy, all three expressed their desire to return to the mainstream.
Ramdev Oraon, who surrendered before a joint team of the Ranchi and Gumla police, faces approximately 29 criminal cases involving various charges, including murder, kidnapping, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act. During the surrender process, the police recovered one automatic weapon, one SLR rifle, 45 live cartridges, and two magazines.
Acting on a confidential tip-off received by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, the joint team from both districts took action to facilitate and complete the surrender process.
