Action Initiated Against Encroachers in Panchsheel Nagar; Notices Pasted on 23 Buildings
Impact of the News Report
Ranchi: The Municipal Corporation has finally initiated action regarding the alleged encroachment—involving the construction of shops and houses—on a 62-foot-wide drain located in Panchsheel Nagar, Pandara. The Corporation's Town Planning Branch has issued notices to 23 buildings constructed by encroaching upon the drain, and has also pasted these notices on the premises of several of these structures.
It is noteworthy that *M Bharat 24 News LIVE* has consistently and prominently highlighted the issue of encroachment on the drain in Panchsheel Nagar, as well as the resulting problem of waterlogging. Local residents believe that the administration sprang into action only after continuous news reports were published, and the process of taking action against the encroachers has now finally begun.
On Saturday, Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav inspected the Panchsheel Nagar area to review the condition of drains, drainage channels, and the extent of encroachment. During the inspection, the team from the Town Planning Branch issued notices to 23 building owners. These notices instruct the building owners to submit their approved building plans and other valid documents within seven days.
The Municipal Corporation has clarified that if a satisfactory response is not received within the stipulated timeframe, further action will be taken under the provisions of the Jharkhand Municipal Act, 2011, and the Jharkhand Building Bye-laws, 2016. According to sources, if the required documents are not submitted, measures to demolish the illegal structures may also be initiated.
However, apprehension still lingers among local residents regarding whether the administration's action will continue beyond this initial stage or if it will remain limited merely to the issuance of notices. Residents point out that due to encroachments on the drain persisting for years, severe waterlogging issues have arisen during the monsoon season; they argue that a permanent solution is possible only if the illegal structures are removed and the drain is cleared of all encroachments.
The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to the citizens not to encroach upon drains and drainage channels, and to refrain from dumping waste into the drains, in order to protect the city from situations such as waterlogging and flooding.
