Strict Measures to Improve Education System in Ranchi: Salaries of Absent Teachers to be Withheld
Ranchi, April 11, 2026: Several key directives were issued during a review meeting of the Education Department, presided over by the District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Manjunath Bhajantri. Displeasure was expressed over the fact that attendance records on the 'e-Vidya Vahini' portal showed only 76% attendance for teachers and 54% for students. Making daily attendance mandatory for all teachers, the Deputy Commissioner directed that salaries be withheld in cases of non-compliance. Orders were also issued to ensure that 100% student attendance is recorded. Instructions were given to complete the enrollment process in Kasturba schools within one week, ensure Aadhaar registration for all children, and secure gas supply for the Mid-Day Meal scheme. Additionally, directives were issued to take strict action to remove encroachments from school lands.
