India's Elections Set a Global Benchmark; The Power of Democracy on Display at IEVP 2026
The Assembly elections held in Kerala, Puducherry, and Assam have garnered significant global recognition. Under the Election Commission of India's International Election Visitors Programme (IEVP) 2026, 38 international delegates from 22 countries observed India's electoral process firsthand and lauded its execution.
Describing India's elections as the "Grand Festival of Democracy," the delegates remarked that conducting fair and orderly elections on such a massive scale offers valuable lessons for the world. They openly praised the record-breaking voter turnout, robust logistics, and transparent administrative arrangements.
During their visit, the delegates inspected dispatch centers, CCTV control rooms, and polling stations. They highlighted the facilities catering to persons with disabilities, women-managed polling booths, crèche services, and 100% webcasting as strong pillars of transparency.
Drone surveillance, the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and various technological innovations also left a strong impression on the delegates. Several delegates stated that India's electoral system is not only impressive but also serves as an exemplary model for the world.
