Strict Action on Private School Fees in Ranchi; Fines Imposed for Arbitrary Hikes
Ranchi, March 20, 2026: The District Administration has taken strict measures to regulate fee hikes in private schools. A District-Level Inquiry and Decision Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Manjunath Bhajantri.
Following this initiative, private schools will no longer be able to raise fees arbitrarily, thereby providing relief to parents. The committee has been empowered to investigate and adjudicate cases involving the collection of fees in excess of the prescribed rates.
The committee comprises the District Education Officer, the District Education Superintendent, a Chartered Accountant, principals of private schools, and parent representatives.
As per the directives, the constitution of a Fee Fixation Committee and a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) will be mandatory in every school, and relevant details must be made public.
In the event of a violation, penalties ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2.5 lakh will be imposed, and action may be initiated to revoke the school's recognition.
