Large Consignment of Spirit Bound for Illicit Liquor Traders in Giridih and Hazaribagh Seized
Dhanbad: Acting decisively against the illicit liquor trade, the Excise Department has seized a tanker loaded with approximately 24,000 liters of raw spirit. This operation was conducted based on a confidential tip-off, under the directives of the Assistant Excise Commissioner.
The team carried out a raid near the GO Petrol Pump on the National Highway at Kotal Adda, within the jurisdiction of the Topchanchi Police Station, where they intercepted and inspected a tanker bearing the Nagaland registration number NL-01-L-1775. The inspection revealed a massive quantity of raw spirit inside the tanker.
During interrogation, the driver disclosed that this consignment was intended for supply to illicit liquor traders operating in Giridih and Hazaribagh. Subsequently, the tanker was seized, and the driver was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. A thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend other individuals involved in the case.
