Appeal Against Conviction Dismissed; Arrest Ordered
Ranchi: The Court of the Judicial Commissioner dismissed the criminal appeal filed by Sunny Giri in Appeal Case No. 307/2025. The appellant had challenged the sentence imposed under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966. The lower court had sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹20,000.
The court noted that the appeal had been filed with a delay of 16 days. Furthermore, despite repeated directives, the appellant neither surrendered nor offered any satisfactory explanation for his failure to do so. Even after being granted opportunities over a period of six months, the court's orders remained uncomplied with. Dismissing the appeal, the court issued directives to ensure the appellant's arrest.
