During this period, the district administration has announced alternative traffic routes; however, commuters using the bridge are facing significant inconvenience.
As part of the traffic diversion plan, heavy vehicles traveling between Hirapur and Barmasia via the FCI godown will now have to take the route through FCI godown–Bhuda–Baliapur.
For small vehicles coming from Barmasia, Bhuda, and Manaitand areas toward Hirapur, the new route passes through Manaitand–Howrah Motor–Dhansar Chowk–JP Chowk–Birsa Chowk–Shramik Chowk–Randhir Verma Chowk, finally reaching Hirapur.
Similarly, light vehicles traveling from Hirapur to Barmasia will have to follow the reverse route—via Randhir Verma Chowk, Shramik Chowk, Birsa Chowk, JP Chowk, Dhansar Mode, and Howrah Motor to reach Barmasia.
Local residents and daily commuters expressed frustration over the inconvenience caused by the closure. Many complained about the long, traffic-heavy detours. A local resident, Partho, remarked, “Why are such weak bridges constructed in the first place, which become dilapidated within a few years and cause trouble to the public?”
Despite the inconvenience, officials assured that the repairs are necessary to ensure the safety and longevity of the bridge structure.
