According to sources, Santosh Singh had demanded money from a contractor in exchange for processing a bill payment. After the contractor lodged a complaint with the ACB, the bureau conducted an investigation and planned a trap operation.
As per the ACB, the contractor had completed the construction of a bridge under the District Council in Latehar and had been running from pillar to post for the payment. However, the Principal Assistant allegedly demanded a bribe to release the amount. Frustrated, the contractor approached the Palamu ACB office with a formal complaint.
Following verification of the complaint, the ACB laid a trap. As planned, the contractor went to Santosh Singh’s residence on Thursday with the agreed amount of ₹65,000. The moment Singh accepted the money, the ACB team, waiting nearby, raided the spot and caught him red-handed with the bribe amount.
After tallying the cash and completing necessary formalities, the ACB team arrested Santosh Singh and took him to Palamu for further legal proceedings.
