Jharkhand/East Singhbhum: The Mango Block Congress Committee in East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning Officer, alleging that workers of the Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have violated the Model Code of Conduct. The party has demanded strict action against those involved.
In the letter issued by Block President Ishwar Kumar Singh, the Congress stated that despite the Model Code of Conduct being in force for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election, JDU and BJP workers, in collusion with officials of the Mango Municipal Corporation, have been distributing government materials such as buckets to the public.
The Congress letter names JDU and BJP leaders Pappu Singh, Vijay Tiwari, Ajit Singh alias Jeetu Pramar, and Bala Prasad, alleging that they distributed government items to common citizens. The letter also mentions that photographs and videos of these activities were posted on JDU leader Ajit Kumar Singh’s Facebook account, openly promoting the distribution of government materials.
President Ishwar Kumar Singh emphasized that, according to the Election Commission’s guidelines, distributing government goods or offering any benefit to citizens during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct is strictly prohibited. He urged immediate investigation and stern action against the BJP and JDU workers involved.
Another Congress leader, Om Prakash Singh Guddu, alleged that the act was a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct and claimed that the involvement of municipal officials in the incident appeared highly suspicious.
