Uttarakhand/Uttarkashi: From the traders of Gangotri Dham to the Hotel Association to Shri Ganga (Purohit) Sabha, the SOP issued by the district administration regarding the journey to Gangotri Dham has been opposed.
The Gangotri Hotel Association and the traders wrote a letter to the District Officer demanding changes in the SOP by September 15, warning that if the SOP is not abolished, a sit-in demonstration and a blockade will be held in Gangotri Dham.
The administration has made guidelines for the passengers, due to which the traders in Gangotri Dham are suffering losses to their business due to the guidelines made by the administration. The traders say that the administration should change this rule so that the traders can get some benefit. From the Hotel Association to small traders, this rule is also causing losses. Along with this, all the traders said that if the administration does not take some action on this soon, then there is a warning to close the Gangotri Dham on September 15. Gangotri Dham Hotel Association President Anil Nautiyal, Secretary Nikhilesh Semwal, in a letter sent to the District Magistrate, said that due to the limited number of passengers in Gangotri Dham as per the SSOP on the second phase of the Yatra and the ban on the movement of pilgrims after 1 pm, the bookings of the hotel business are getting cancelled, due to which the hotel business is suffering huge losses.
It is noteworthy that 35 days after the Dharali disaster, the district administration started the second phase of the Yatra in Gangotri Dham on Tuesday. The district administration has allowed only local vehicles from Uttarkashi to Gangotri. District Magistrate Prashant Arya said that at present, according to the SOP issued by the police, the passengers will have to follow the pilgrimage. He said that this arrangement will remain in force for some time.
