Ranchi City Superintendent of Police (City SP) Paras Rana stated in a press conference on Sunday that the arrested rioters include Chandan Kumar, Mahesh Saw, Dinesh Rai, Kunal Yadav, Kundan Yadav, Anmol Jaiswal, Meena Devi, and Priya Kumari.
According to the SP, a man from Gumla district was seriously injured in a road accident in Pandra on September 14th. He was being treated at a private hospital. The injured man died last Saturday, following which a large number of people, along with the deceased's family, took to the streets and blocked the road.
He stated that during the road blockade, people attempted to disrupt traffic by burning tires. Angry protesters began creating a ruckus demanding the arrest of the trailer driver. Meanwhile, some people entered the Pandra Police Station and severely damaged records, tables, chairs, cupboards, government vehicles, and the police station's door. The rioters attacked the Station House Officer (SHO) with intent to kill, seriously injuring him.
The SP stated that due to the severity of the incident, additional police forces had to be called to the scene. Only then was the crowd brought under control. A case was registered at the Pandra Police Station against 30 named and 500 unidentified individuals. Police took action today and arrested six men and two women.
