A young man drowned in a lake while bathing with nine friends

Jharkhand/East Singhbhum : 21-year-old Krishna Rana, a resident of Giridih district, drowned in Dimna Lake on Wednesday afternoon. He had come with nine friends for a trip. While bathing in the lake, he drowned and died due to lack of timely help.

According to information, approximately nine young men, all carpenters, had reached Dimna Lake. Six of them entered the water to bathe. Meanwhile, Krishna Rana, the last to enter the water, suddenly began drowning in the deep water. His friends tried to rescue him but were unsuccessful and he was rescued.

People present at the scene immediately informed the police, but they failed to arrive in time. Instead of rescue operations, only inquiries were conducted. Fishermen who arrived after a considerable time pulled the young man's body from the water.

Locals say that this is not the first incident of drowning in Dimna Lake. Numerous accidents have occurred in the past, yet the lake area lacks lifeguards and warning signs. Every accident is a mere formality, even though proper measures could have saved many lives.
