
The procession started from the Kurmi hostel at Yodhadih More and proceeded through ITI More to Jagannath Mahato Chowk.
A large number of people from the community participated in the torchlight procession and pledged to make the movement a success.
On this occasion, District Magistrate Rajesh Mahato announced that the Chandrapura railway station would be blocked on September 20th. Thousands of Kurmi community members from Chas and Chandankiyari blocks would join the protest.
Meanwhile, AJSU District President Sachin Mahato stated that this movement would prove to be historic for the restoration of the tribal identity and dignity of the Kurmi community.
Hundreds of people including Rajesh Mahato, Dayamay Mahato, Sachin Mahato, Nimai Mahato, Bahadurpur Mahato, Parameshwar Mahato, Ghanshyam Mahato, Santosh Mahato, Naresh Mahato, Dhiren Mahato, Rupesh Mahato, Manoj Mahato, Sanju Mahato, Haripad Mahato participated in the torchlight procession.
Many other social workers including Mithun Mahato, Saroj Mahato, Gopi Mahato, Deepak Mahato, Pradeep Mahato, Narayan Mahato, Jhantu Mahato, Tinku Mahato, Chinavas Mahato were also present.
