Kanpur:Three people died due to poisonous gas coming out of sewer tank in Akbarpur police station area of Uttar Pradesh district. Some people fainted. Police reached on information and sent the bodies for postmortem.
Shuttering work was going on in the house of Surendra Gupta living in Meena Bagiya of Akbarpur police station area on Saturday. First of all, Bigahi resident worker Mubeen son of Rafiq (26) got down in the tank and got unconscious after getting caught in the gas. To save him, Bigahi's Aman and Sarvesh Kushwaha son of Ravendra (30) also got down and both became unconscious.
Three died in hospital
To take out the three, Bigahi's Israr son of Rafiq (22) got down in the tank and he also got affected by the gas. The villagers took out all four in a hurry and took them to the district hospital. There, doctors declared Aman, Mubin and Sarvesh dead, while Israr's condition remains critical.
After the incident, there is chaos in the houses of the deceased. Villagers allege that the workers were lowered into the tank without any safety equipment.
Kanpur Dehat Superintendent of Police Arvind Mishra said that this accident happened while opening the shuttering of the sewer tank. The depth of the tank was about 10 feet. Where the four youths had descended into the tank, they fell unconscious due to poisonous gas. Three died, one is undergoing treatment. He said that the matter is being investigated. At present, police force has been deployed at the spot to maintain the current situation normal.
