Ranchi: Former captain of Indian football team and internationally renowned player Waichung Bhutia paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Chief Minister's residential office on Saturday. During this, there was a detailed discussion between the two on the development of sports especially football in Jharkhand, providing better training to the players and strengthening the sports infrastructure.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that under the sports policy of the government, scholarships, employment, better coaching and modern resources are being provided to the players. Special schemes are also being made for popular sports like football, so that talents can be identified from the rural level and they can be taken forward. On this occasion, Bhutia gave his suggestions to the Chief Minister in the direction of promoting sports especially football in Jharkhand and honing the talent of the players. He said that there is no dearth of sports talent in the land of Jharkhand and national and international level players are being prepared from here.
Welcoming Bhutia, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to the all-round development of sports. He said that football is a very popular sport among the young generation of Jharkhand and the government is constantly working to strengthen its infrastructure and provide better training and opportunities to the players.
The Chief Minister said that the guidance and experience of veteran players like Baichung Bhutia will give a new direction to the players of Jharkhand. He expressed confidence that this will increase the morale and enthusiasm of the young players of the state. The Chief Minister said that there is immense potential for sports in Jharkhand. The government is committed to providing opportunities and facilities to the players at every level.
