Former Minister Demands Justice for Survivor, Questions Law and Order Situation; BJP to Burn Chief Minister's Effigy Across 595 Organisational Mandals on Sunday

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Minister and Koderma MLA Dr Neera Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren-led state government over the alleged rape of a woman by a police personnel at Gamharia Police Station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, she said the incident was not merely a crime against a woman but also raised serious questions about the police administration and the accountability of the state government.

Yadav said the government must ensure immediate justice for the survivor and Chief Minister Hemant Soren must explain how law and order would be restored in the state. She alleged that women were neither safe at home nor at police stations under the present government. Referring to the circumstances of the incident, she said the woman had approached the police station seeking justice in a domestic dispute and stayed there overnight due to security concerns. However, the alleged involvement of a police personnel in the crime had shattered public confidence in the police force.

The BJP leader further alleged that criminals were becoming increasingly emboldened under the present government's tenure. She expressed concern over the vacant Jharkhand State Commission for Women, claiming that the post had remained unoccupied for more than six years. She also raised concerns over alleged increases in rape, murder, drug trafficking, infiltration and shooting incidents in the state, holding the government responsible for the deteriorating situation.

Yadav said women across Jharkhand were angry and increasingly concerned about their safety, questioning where they could turn for protection if even a police station was not safe. She demanded strict action against the accused personnel and accountability from the state government. She also appealed to the youth to stay away from unlawful activities and focus on building their future through hard work and honest efforts.

Announcing the BJP's protest programme, Yadav said Chief Minister Hemant Soren's effigies would be burnt on Sunday evening across all 595 organisational mandals in the state to protest the incident and the alleged collapse of law and order. She also expressed concern over the weakening of Jharkhand's social harmony and traditional sense of security. BJP Mahila Morcha State President Seema Singh and State Spokesperson Rafia Naz were also present at the press conference.
