Legal Awareness Workshop Held at Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Kujra, Lohardaga, Under the ‘Safe Childhood Campaign’; Over 200 Girls Educated About Child Rights and Legal Provisions

Lohardaga: Under the directions of JHALSA, Ranchi, and the guidance of Rajkamal Mishra, Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of DLSA, a legal awareness workshop was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, Kujra, Lohardaga, under the ‘Safe Childhood Campaign’. More than 200 girl students participated in the programme. They were informed about various themes prescribed by NALSA, including ‘My Childhood, My Rights’, ‘Know the Law, Save Childhood’, ‘Safe Click, Safe Childhood’, ‘Speak Up, Inform and Save’, ‘No Child Marriage, No Child Abuse’ and ‘Aware Childhood, Empowered India’.

Addressing the students, DLSA Secretary Manoranjan Kumar said that the first step towards success in life is to set a clear goal. Students must then study and make consistent efforts every day to achieve it. Referring to the story of the tortoise and the hare, he explained that continuous efforts lead to success. He urged the girls not to remain silent if they face any kind of wrongdoing or abuse, but to speak up and take steps to protect themselves. He also emphasised that knowledge of the law helps protect children, safeguard their rights and prevent crime.

The DLSA Secretary further said that a safe childhood is every child's right and everyone must remain aware of their rights. Highlighting the harmful consequences of child marriage, he stated that marriage at an early age can seriously affect girls' health and put their lives at risk. Complaints related to child marriage can also be submitted to DLSA through Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). He stressed that the country's future will be strong only when its children are empowered. He also advised students to follow the guidance of their teachers and parents and pursue their education with complete dedication and honesty. School teachers and Para Legal Volunteers were present at the programme.
