BIT Mesra Submits Report Supporting JSSC’s Normalisation Formula; Next Hearing on November 20
Ranchi, October 30, 2026: The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday heard 103 petitions filed by Girdhar Rawat and others challenging the normalisation rules adopted in the Assistant Teacher (Sahayak Acharya) recruitment process. During the hearing before Justice Deepak Roshan, BIT Mesra submitted its technical investigation report through an affidavit, stating that the normalisation rules adopted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) were in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The petitioners have alleged that despite securing higher marks, they were excluded from the selection process, while candidates with lower marks were selected for appointment. They contend that the normalisation formula adopted by JSSC reduced their scores, adversely affecting their chances of selection. During an earlier hearing, the High Court had directed BIT Mesra to conduct a technical investigation into the correctness of the normalisation process.
Following the submission of the report, the court scheduled the next hearing for November 20, 2026, for detailed consideration of the matter. The upcoming hearing will be important for the petitioners and other candidates awaiting a decision on the controversy surrounding the Assistant Teacher recruitment process.
