Ranchi, October 6, 2026: A joint delegation of the Ranchi District Durga Puja Committee, Ranchi Mahanagar Durga Puja Committee and various peace committees met Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residential office on Kanke Road, Ranchi.
The delegation presented the Chief Minister with a chunari, an idol of Goddess Durga and a bouquet and thanked him for the cooperation being provided by the district administration to the Durga Puja committees.
The committee members invited Chief Minister Hemant Soren to visit various Durga Puja pandals with his family, have darshan of Mata Rani and participate in the Maha Aarti. The Chief Minister accepted the invitation and assured them that he would participate in the Durga Puja celebrations and visit the pandals.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Soren urged the puja committees to ensure that idol immersion is carried out in an environmentally friendly manner. He suggested that the administration and puja committees work together to develop an eco-friendly arrangement for idol immersion.
The Chief Minister also asked the committees to put up de-addiction awareness banners and hoardings at puja pandals and create awareness among young people about staying away from drugs and other forms of substance abuse.
Describing Durga Puja as a festival of devotion to Shakti and the victory of truth over falsehood, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes to all the puja committees and devotees. He directed the administration to ensure proper law and order, electricity, water supply, cleanliness and traffic management during the festival.
Special attention, he said, should be given to the safety and convenience of women, children and senior citizens visiting the puja pandals.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri and Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan were also present and briefed the Chief Minister about the district administration’s preparations for Durga Puja.
