Four Prisoners Benefit from Jail Court; Kitchen Inspected to Check Food Quality

Ranchi, September 20, 2026: A Jail Court-cum-Legal Awareness Camp was organised at Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar, Ranchi, by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi. The programme was organised under the directions of JHALSA and the guidance of the District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi. The programme was led by DLSA Secretary Rakesh Raushan.


Chief Judicial Magistrate S. B. Sharma attended the Jail Court as the chief guest. Applications of 15 prisoners lodged in the central jail were submitted for consideration in connection with pending cases before various courts. Four prisoners benefited from the Jail Court.


During the camp, prisoners were informed about various schemes operated by NALSA and JHALSA and were made aware of their legal rights. They were also informed about the legal assistance and services provided by the District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi. 


A medical examination camp was also organised for the prisoners. DLSA Secretary Rakesh Raushan emphasised the need for regular health check-ups of prisoners and proper cleanliness in the jail premises.


Jail Kitchen Inspected, Food Quality Checked

Under the chairmanship of Chief Judicial Magistrate S. B. Sharma, judicial magistrates inspected the jail kitchen. The quality of food being served to the prisoners was checked by tasting the food. Instructions were issued to address the shortcomings observed during the inspection.


Special emphasis was placed on cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen. Judicial Magistrates Mayank Maliyaz, Prashant Kumar Verma, Amit Gupta, Prashant Gupta and Sarthak Sharma, along with jail administration officials, LADCS members, LLB students, jail personnel and prisoners, were present on the occasion.
